fred-genis-pic

Fred Genis is an engaging arts elder with a wonderful passion for what has been his life’s work – making Fine Art lithographic  prints  with artists.

Fred came to Australia 37 years ago on a Russian ship with his wife Rina and his three daughters. Also on the ship was a container with the tools of his trade  –  two lithographic presses, stones and all other materials for his studio . They settled in area where John Olsen lived and he became the  first artist Fred worked with – after that a long line up of renowned artists such as Brett Whitely, Tim Storrier and many  others  contacted Fred, keen to work with someone who had  an  established reputation in American and Europe ; Fred having worked with the likes of Willem De Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, James Rosenquist  Joseph Albers, to name just a few from America in the late 60’s early 70’s. The National Gallery of Victoria has  the “American Collection’ of his years of work  with these world artists, but as yet there is no ‘Australian Collection of the prints he has made for many famous Australian artists.  He now lives in Possum Creek with his wife and daughter and is keen to keep passing on his knowledge and skills to a younger generation.
